The glow of morning pours through my kitchen window revealing the print of my child’s hand. It’s the start of a new day and Autumn has found its way home. Its strange how everything starts to feel different when a new season arrives. There’s a familiarity that comes with the scent in the air and it almost brings you back to something buried in the depths of your childhood. Autumn has always been my favorite time of year. The sky is endless and blue, the air feels cool and brisk as if its been brushed along the ocean’s back and the glowing sun is still big and warm reminding us that summer was just amongst us. The days feel fresh, clean and all traces of the year before erased. September always makes me feel like its the start of a new year, perhaps it comes from being a child and starting a new year of school. I remember the feeling of getting dressed on that first day of school, putting on a brand new outfit that I had laid out the night before, carrying my backpack filled with new school supplies and the eagerness of what was to come. I think I will always feel like September is a chance to start over, break in, challenge the world and to be honest… Im not even sure why? I suppose New Years is just too cold and bleak of a month for me. I welcome this season with open arms, warm pumpkin pie, leaves bleeding orange, halloween scares and taking my son to the start of his new year.
